Motor Oil Matters (Mom)

Motor Oil Matters (MOM)

I know right now most of you are most likely thinking what is Motor Oil Matters (MOM) title about.  So I will start this post off by explaining what/who they are.
MOM is a new consumer education and industry watchdog program by the American Petroleum Institute. This nonprofit organization has been established to stress the benefits of quality licensed motor oils and call out those who engage in deceptive practices.
With the summer driving season ramping up, MOM wants to remind you to be in the know when it comes to motor oil changes.

I never knew that some companies use bad oil!  They claim they are giving you a cheap service, but this "cheap" service comes at the expense of your car.  Because putting bad oil into your car is never a good idea!!
~AAA expects between the major summer holidays of Memorial Day and Labor Day to aid over eight million motorists, and cautions drivers that auto maintenance is key to avoiding summertime travel breakdowns. Ensuring quality motor oil in your car is one way to prevent road trip problems.

Wouldn't it be horrible to be taking your family to the beach only to break down half way there :(

~Service-locators can be quick to offer discounted services to people who are looking to reduce their automotive maintenance costs.  Make sure your service provider is pouring quality motor oil into your car before you decide on a cheaper deal.

Because that cheap deal can end up costing you a whole lot in the long run!!  Be smart not cheap :)

I have to say I'm stunned!  I never knew any of this and I'm happy for a program such as MOM to make me aware and to question my mechanic the next time I get an oil change which will be soon since I will be provided a $50 gift card to get my oil changed and a checklist on things to ask/look for.  Also in the near future I will be able to giveaway a $50 gift card to one of my lucky readers to get their oil changed.  So please be on the look out for that too.
