Do It Yourself Laundry Detergent

Do It Yourself Laundry Detergent

I have never been a huge DIY person.  I always convince myself it will be to hard or mine won't turn out as nice as someone else.  Last week I decided no more excuses and I started making my own cleaning products.  Well okay I made 1 so far, but there is many more to come.

Today I want to share with you my DIY laundry detergent!  I am beyond amazed at how well it works!  Like works better then my store bought stuff.  And wait until you see how much you will save $$

What you need:
1 Fels Naptha Bar
1 c. washing soda (its like baking soda can be found in you laundry aisle)
1/2 c borax
5 gallon bucket
water

What you do
~ Grate your Fels Naptha Bar
~ Cook the bar in 4 cups of water.  You cook until the soap flakes are 100% dissolved

~ Fill your 5 gallon bucket half way with warm water and mix in the Fels Naptha mixture. (I did 2 gallons)
~ Stir and add your borax and washing soda
~ Finish filling bucket with water (I added another 2 gallons)

~ Cover and let it sit over night so it turns to gel constancy  (It will be runny right away, but will turn to gel over night)
~ Next morning it should have thickened you can then add it to containers with a funnel I left mine right in my 5 gallon bucket.

Ready for the best part???  I use about 1/4 c per load and if I did my math right (I may not have lol) I should get over 500 loads!  Even if I did laundry every day for a year I would still have some left over!!  How awesome is that?!?!?!
