The Dovekeepers

Several months ago I seen a preview for The Dovekeepers.  My mom and I couldn't wait to watch and even set our DVR to record it at her house.  Than disaster struck and my mom's cat knocked over her DVR effectively breaking it and losing all our recorded shows!!
We were both pretty upset we didn't watch any of them, because we planned on doing a binge watch weekend.  We several shows we had recorded!
It is okay though, because a few weeks ago I was contacted to review it!!  Yes I'm sure you know within minutes of saying yes I was on the phone with my mom.  We were both pretty excited and I even forgave her email DVR ruining cat lol
The Dovekeepers is coming exclusively to Amazon on DVD and Blu-ray from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution June 30!
Synopsis:
From Executive Producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, THE DOVEKEEPERSis based on the true events at Masada in 70 C.E. After being forced out of their home in Jerusalem by the Romans, 900 Jews were ensconced in a fortress at Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert. Besieged at Masada, the Jews held out for months against the vast Roman armies. The series recounts the events from the perspective of a few extraordinary women who arrive at Masada with unique backstories, but a common bond for survival. Additionally, these women, who work together daily as dovekeepers, are all concealing substantial secrets.

My review:
We loved it!  It was tough seeing women who are seen as little more then property, but these women were strong and didn't let life get them down.  And to be strong not only in a mans world, but also in Masada, where Rome could take over and every day could be your last gave these woman an extraordinary feel.  Each day they faced trials and yet always seemed to keep their faith and go on.
I've read several reviews and some of them felt the show strayed to far from the books.  I myself have never read the books, so I really can't comment on this.  Sorry :(
Seeing the back stories of these people and their incorruptible faith and unbreakable love for god is inspiring!
Definitely worth watching!
