Pirate's Booty

Brandon Jr is a picky eater.  When he was 3 I thought he would grow out of it.  At age 7 I have given up hope and just accepted the fact finding meals and snacks are going to be a bit harder then I would like.
Most of the time it is no big deal, if he doesn't like it we try something else.

That is until school starts...  Do you know how hard it is to pack a lunch and snack for someone who likes 15 things at most?
And better yet to make said lunch and snack healthy??
You have no clue how many days I sit at home hoping he ate enough and didn't skip snack.
This year we are determined to add more choices.  So we are using this summer as our own personal taste testing.

We recently found a winner!  Now the name alone was eye catching, Pirate's Booty!
I mean come on what 7 year old would pass up a snack with a pirate on the front??
So A+ for getting his attention :).
To me the packaging isn't important.  For a kid it is half the appeal.

Next was variety.
Pirate Brand offers several products:
Pirate's Booty - Comes in 4  flavors Veggie, Aged White Cheddar, Fruity and Crunchy Treasures (Which is also Age white cheddar, just fun shapes)

Mac & Cheese - which also offers several varieties in shell shape.  Also this is organic.

Real Wisconsin Cheddar Smart Puffs

Original Tings Crunchy Corn Sticks

I personally was able to review the Pirate's Booty Aged White Cheddar 12 Lunch Packs 1/2 OZ bags.
These are the perfect size for little lunch bags.

So cool package, and offers lots of variety.

Now was the taste test.  Besides my kids convincing themselves they would turn into pirates after eating I needed them to like the flavor too.
And oh boy did they!  I gave them each their own bag and within minutes it was gone!
And it only took that long because I made them slow down.

I had to try them myself, so I snitched a bag when they weren't looking.
I was so impressed with the real cheese taste!  They packed a whole lot of flavor into these little puffs!
I use the word puff because that is what they remind me of.  They are not crunchy, but instead a nice soft snack :).

My son couldn't stop talking about how he is going to be the coolest kid at school we pirate food in his lunch box!

So they passed every test my kiddos could throw at them.
Coolness X
Lots To pick From X
Taste good X
 So far kid approved....

Now it was my turn to investigate.
Let me tell you what I found out:
These are in fact BAKED rice and Corn puffs!  No weird artificial chemical X stuff.  It is real rice and corn!!

There is NO artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.  It is even cholesterol free.

They are glutten free, have 0g of trans Fat and only about 64 calories for a 1/2 bag!

Even though this doesn't matter to me personally, I wanted to mention their products are also kosher.

Ummm yeah move over kids mom is steal this snack for herself!  I couldn't believe it tasted so good and was also a guilt free snack.

My last test was price.
I wasn't to excited with what amazon was charging, so I found them a whole lot cheaper at my local store :).
I was impressed with their price at the store and have to say I couldn't resist buying a few bags for my house.

So I know beyond a doubt these yummy little Pirate's Booty snacks will be making their way to my sons lunch box this year.
They are both kid and parent approved.
