I was given a review copy of this book to enjoy and provide my personal feedback. I was not paid to write this post. All opinions are my own.
There's lunches to be made, laundry is piled up high, the dog hasn't been walked since Christmas, and you can’t imagine fitting one more thing into your jam-packed day. What if, however, you could take just five minutes to invest in making each day matter? These five minutes with Jesus just might become the most peaceful and meaningful moments of your day.
Jesus said that we could expect to feel overwhelmed, that trials and sorrows are simply part of life on earth. But He offers an amazing gift that changes everything: His peace.
In 5 Minutes with Jesus: Peace for Today, the second book in the 5 Minutes with Jesus series, bestselling author Sheila Walsh wants to guide you in worrying less and letting your heart be settled with short readings followed by impactful passages of Scripture. Each reading includes messages that remind you of truths such as:
Resting in the purpose God has for you brings peace.
God loves you for who you are, not what you do.
No matter how big the storm, God is bigger.
The 5 Minutes with Jesus series is the perfect way to start your day with peace of mind and a peaceful heart.
If someone was to monitor my computer time I would be ashamed of the amount of time I spend on facebook and other social media platforms. I spend way to much time reading other peoples drama and getting to worked up over the bad choices my loved ones are making. That time though that I spend on there doing that could so be going towards something much more valuable.
Time with my hubby, time with kiddos, time with my pups and time with Jesus.
We only have a limited amount of time in this life! Do I really want to spend it reading about other peoples drama?
The answer is no!
The new book I found called 5 Minutes with Jesus really drove this point home and made it easier for me to set aside that small amount of time each time. This author uses gentle words, much needed truth and a bit of humor to remind me I am not alone and that my one on one time with Jesus and God is important.
Life can become out of control. Right now my boys have baseball everyday, expect Sundays.... But I have girls softball practice those days. With the end of the school year coming up their our field trips, class shows and Funday. This is all on top of the fact I am volunteering to run the fundraising for my girls team this year and my normal church functions.
I am busy and I sometimes forget to take 5 minutes to say Hi Jesus how are you today? Thank you for watching over me as I go about my busy life and for protecting my little family. Thank you for allow my boys to be healthy enough to play sports and for giving me a loving hubby who doesn't mind coaching both teams. Thank you for allowing us to connect as a family and for letting my boys know they are loved and cherish. Thank you for my silly pups who no matter what put a smile on my face and remind me that being silly is okay. Thank you for letting us live in a safe place where we have unlimited access to food, drinks and shelter. Thank you Jesus for never letting us be alone and for having your loving hands in all that we do.
No that prayer wasn't in the book, but the book made talking to Jesus a bit easier for me. I know some people struggle on what to say and how to say it. The thing is Jesus knows what is in your heart and as you talk the words will come easier. As you read this book you can feel worries being to melt away and you feel lighter and closer to Jesus. I love how the authors really does deliver a powerful message, but in the most loving way possible.
She shares moments in her own life and makes us reflect on our own. It is a book worth checking out
And the book is small enough you can tuck it into your purse and keep it with you all day long.
