Being married has been and is the greatest adventure I have ever taken in my entire life. I get to experience the rest of my life with my best friend. The early days of our marriage was fun and mostly responsibility free. We spent most of our time doing pretty much what we wanted. Then we had kids and though our lives changed it was the best change possible. Now the love my hubby and I have for each other was spread to two more. I'm 34 (soon to be 35) and I have noticed my marriage has gone through different phases. And just like everything else there has been ups and downs. I'm lucky and most of my marriage has been ups. But like all other couples we have had our downs too. Over the past 15 years we have dealt with money issues, our kiddos being sick, endless chores that never seem to get done, schedule conflicts and of course not seeming to make time for each other. And like many other at times, we have hit ruts. When life just seems to get in the way of connecting like we use too. It can be hard to get out of those ruts. I mean we all been there, when it feels like we just don't have the time or energy to add one more thing to that never ending list of to-dos. And I'm guilty of thinking my hubby is a low priority on that list. Don't judge he has the same mind set sometimes!

My review:
I love that when reading this book, I feel like I'm having a chat with 2 friends. They share their real-life experiences! Several times I find myself smiling at their words and saying, "ME TOO!" In one of the chapters Phylicia was talking about showing an interest in a video game her hubby wanted her to play. She herself isn't a video game type person, but for her hubby's sake she made the effort to play and actually enjoyed it.
I found myself giggling, because my hubby several times a year buys us tickets to football games. I'm not a sports person, I'm more content to stay home reading. But for my hubby I put on a jersey and even sometimes a hat. And I sit on those bleachers cheering my little heart out (even though I have no clue what's going on and have on several times got weird looks from my hubby for cheering for the wrong team) At the end of the game though I can safely say I had fun. Am I suddenly a fan? No, 10 minutes after we leave, I'll forget what the score was, but the fact I did something with my hubby made it fun.
I love that this book and these authors get that. I like that they understand the little things are just as important as the big things. They give great advice that is easy to apply to everyday life. And the best part is the use scripture to back up that advice. They don't make it seem like they live perfect lives and the rest of us our failing. As I said above, they tell us real stories and share struggles they have had over the years. Also, no matter what phase in your relationship you are in these things can be applied.
This honestly is a wonderful book and I feel is an exciting way to strengthen your marriage. Each time I sit down to read it I feel as if I'm diving into another conversation with a friend who just seems to understand exactly what I feel at times and doesn't judge me for it!
