VeggieTales Celery Night Fever! Review

Since 1993 VeggieTales have been teaching kids that God not only made them special, but he loves them very much.  Through fun sweet stories VeggieTales teaches kiddos about God's love.
I remember as a little girl I loved VeggieTales so it means a lot to me to be able to share them with my kids.  VeggieTales is like that beloved childhood memory that follows you your entire life :)

I'm super excited to tell you about the latest addition to the VeggieTales collection.  Celery Night Fever!

As the summer comes to a close and school begins to start up, there is no better time than now to remind your kids about the importance of friendship and forgiveness.
Kids are about to meet new friends and start a new chapter in their little lives.
While your little ones get ready to interact with new classmates VeggieTales can help you instill values that will last through all stages of their life.
Celery Night Fever, will make kids laugh, dance and learn the importance of making friendships work by forgiving others just as God forgave us.  Through fun and love our favorite Veggies teach us the importance of friendship.
Watch as Laura Carrot and Junior Asparagus help the once popular Groovy Brothers band members learn how to work out their past differences in order to reunite and put on a concert in efforts to save Celery Park.

For fun recipes, crafts and activities related to Celery Night Fever visit www.veggietales.com. Nothing beats an afternoon full of crafts and laughs with your kids as you teach them the values of friendship.  And I'm sure kids everywhere will share these ideas with their friends.

Sometimes we lose sight of what is important in life.  We get busy and stop learning life's lessons.  That is why I love VeggieTales, because even though I'm an adult sometimes I forget that my kiddos may be struggling with stuff.  That making new friends or knowing how to treat their friends may be difficult to them.  They can learn this from VeggieTales in a fun interactive way.  Lets be honest if a cute carrot tells you something it seems like a genius idea, if mom says the same thing its more like a tortures lecture lol!

VeggieTales Velery Night Fever releases August 5th 2014.

Summer in February

Summer in February

Fellow Downton Abbey Fans for those of you who were as heartbroken over Matthew as I was I have some great news!  On August 12 2014 Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM) and Tribeca Film are release Summer in February!  And Dan Stevens happens to be playing one of the main roles!
I will be honest when I was contacted to review this movie I seen the cover with him on and before I read the synopsis I said yes!

Liebster Award

Liebster Award

I have been blogging for quite some time and this happens to be the first time ever I've been nominated for an award!  I want to give a huge heartfelt thank you to Maegan at The Bee Hive Buzz blog.  It means a lot to me that you have not only taking the time to read my blog, but have also let me know that you've enjoyed my posts!

For those of you wondering what the Liebster Award is I will explain.
The award is presented to bloggers with under 1000 followers as a way to welcome them into the blogging world.  Now my blog has long ago passed those numbers, but I was honored to have been nominated and wanted to accept.  Truth be told most days I still feel like a newbie trying to find my way around.

Here are the rules to accept this award:
1) Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
2) write 11 random facts about yourself
3) Answer 11 question that the nominator posted for you and then write 11 of your own to ask your nominees.
4) Let the people you nominated know they've been nominated.

The Liebster Award is like a fun blogger chain letter award.  Accepting is totally optional.

11 Random Fact:
1) I'm a prankster and like to pull pranks on my hubby all the time.
2) I wrote two books, that I have never tried to get published.
3) I like to randomly sing.  To my hubby's great displeasure, I'm pretty bad at it :)!!
4) I have a strange sense of humor.  My younger brother and sister have the same weird sense of humor and I'm told the 3 of us together is enough to drive someone insane. I'm kind of, sort of just a tad bit.... weird :3
5) I gave my sister boyfriend a Billbo Baggins action figure, since we are Lord of the Ring fans.  He refuses to remove it from the box.  So from time to time when he is at work I draw him pictures of random people (Golem, Stewie from family guy, Dobbie from Harry Potter, ect) and have a word bubble demanding he "Free Bilbo Baggins" and I hang them on my sister bedroom wall....  Did I mention I'm weird?
6) I'm not allowed to watch scary movies anymore, because they freak me out to much.  Sadly for my hubby when it comes to flight or fight, I'm a fighter :)!!!  How was I suppose to know he wasn't the evil witch from the conjuring, he shouldn't be wondering (Using the bathroom) around the house at 3am! I can't be held responsible for the pillow that flew at him
7) I currently have over 500 books in my personal library.  I like to read :)
8) One of my biggest fears is that I'm not being a good mom.  I lose sleep over this.
9) I'm part Irish and its my dream to one day go to Ireland and hopefully take my mom with me
10) I'm currently reading Game of Thrones.  Game of Thrones is most likely my favorite show :).  Anyone else think that Ned Starks sister was Jon snows mom?
11) I want to make a difference and try my hardest to be a good person.

Tips and tricks to save on Back-To-School Shopping

Tips and tricks to save on Back-To-School Shopping

This post is part of my Back-To-School guide.  To learn more click the photo below:

We all know Back-To-School shopping can get expensive.  And if you don't plan right you can get unnecessary things or even miss something.

This is only my 3rd year of B2S shopping, but I want to share some of my tips with you.

For Quinn I had quite a few hand me downs from Brandon.  Since he is only going to preschool I wasn't to worried about buying him new clothing.
For Brandon a few items would still fit him from last year since they were big.
1) Go through what you have an make a list.  Then make a 2nd list of what you need.  This way you never have more then you need and you will always have enough.

My next tip is to late for the first half of the year, but will be great in a few months for the 2nd half.  Around April stores begin to put their winter items on clearance.  I grab school stuff then.  I got my son a coat for $15 marked down from $60 not only was it on clearance, but I also had a coupon.  If you watch soon summer items will go on sale and you can get some cute outfits for the end of the school year.
2) Shop for winter items in summer and summer items in winter.  This way you will get great deals on clearance items.

Coupons a few days before you are ready to go shopping go to the websites of the stores you plan to shop at.  A lot of them have an email newsletter and if you sign up most of them will send you a welcome coupon.  Plus they will send you coupons through out the year.
Here is a list of a few stores who I know send welcome coupons and stores that sent them through out the year.  Gap, Old Navy, Children's Place, Kohl's, Gymboree and there are so many more.  Just check out your favorite stores and see if they have a newsletter.
3) Sign up for newsletters to get great coupons to help you save.

Supplies this is the one item I always buy more of.  Last year my sons teacher kept sending home notes that he was out of glue, crayons and so many other things.  I wish I would have stocked up at Walmart when they had their great deals going on.  So this year I bought more then I need of crayons, pencils, notebooks, erasers, glue and extra folders.  Supplies are not like clothing they wont out grow them and if you buy chance buy to many you can use them the next year.
4) Get classroom supplies while they are a great price.  You never know if you child will run out half way through the year, then you will be stuck paying full price.

I got Brandon a cute backpack at ToysRus this year!  It is actually something for Skylanders game pieces, but it made the perfect backpack for him.  Plus it was part of their sale, I'm pretty sure it had a green sticker so I was able to save.  Michael's the craft store also has cute items you may not be able to find in regular stores and if you go to their site they always have coupons you can print from their weekly flyer.
5) Make sure to check unlikely places.  You never know where you can find a good deal.

I still have about 4 or 5 things on my list.  I want to get 2 pairs of sweatpants and a nice spring outfit.  I don't need them right away so instead of spending more now I plan to wait until Christmas and stick them under the tree as gifts.  Or even tell family member who ask what to get them.  Often times my grandmother will hand me money and tell me to just grab something from her and then give it to her to wrap.
6) Don't think you need to get everything at once.  Christmas is a great time to get the rest.

Lunch boxes are a hidden fee most of us don't think of.  Instead of buying sandwich bags and over priced juice boxes why not get reusable containers?  Its cheaper to buy a box of cookies instead of buying the single wrapped packages. I have a sandwich container and 3 stainless steal containers (great for fruit, crackers and other small snacks) the only container I need to find is a reliable juice holder.  Last years ours leaked so I want to find one I can trust.
Not only will reusable save you money, but its also better for the Earth if we don't make so much waste.
7) If you can, use reusable containers in the lunch box to save money.

Last and surely not least is that Back-To-School grocery order.  I have been saving my coupons for quite some time now.  My son is a picky eater so we pack about 85% of the time.  I have a planters peanut butter coupon set aside, Welshes Jelly was just in the paper on Sunday.  I also have Juicy Juice coupons, cookies and I plan to stock up on Goldfish this week with giants buy theirs get ours free deal.    Juicy Juice is also on this deal.
8) For lunch box shopping save your coupons and if there is a good deal on food that will stay good, buy it in bulk.

I hope you can use some of these tips.  If you have any please let them in the comments.  I'm always looking for ways to save!

SafeHands Alcohol-free hand sanitizer review

Disclaimer:  I was given products in this post for the purpose of review.  I was not paid in anyway to write this review.  All opinions are my own.

SafeHands Alcohol-free hand sanitizer review

This post is part of my Back-To-School guide!

School means a lot of things to me as a mom.  I get some me time which is very rare and I normally spend it doing housework.  I also get to be proud of my little ones and their efforts in school.  There is also the bad, I have to deal with the fact I'm sending my little ones away for a good portion of the day, I have to deal with not being there to help them, we can't just pick up and go do something fun, I have to get up super early and put them to bed early and finally my little ones come into contact with GERMS!

My oldest started kindergarten last year and he came off the bus one day and told me the little boy he sits with threw up everywhere.  I said well that is horrible lets hurry up and wash your hands...  He said why it was in the morning not on the way home.  Horror settled in and the next day I got the phone call from the nurse that my little ones was of course sick and needed to come home.

I explained germs to him and how to avoid getting sick.  But its hard when they are one a bus and don't have access to running water and soap.

This year will be different thanks to SafeHands my little guy will now be ready for these Germy situations :)

About the company:

SafeHands was founded by doctors who are industry leaders in hand hygiene and disease prevention, Dr. Jay Reubens, founder & CEO of Safe Hands and inventor of the ubiquitous touch-free dispenser, and David Dyer, Chief Scientist of safeHands .

The FDA recognizes alcohol-based products AND alcohol-free Benzalkonium Chloride (BAC) in concentrations of .13% killing 99.9% of germs after one use. BAC is safeHands proprietary active ingredient and has been used safely and effectively in eye drops, nose sprays, mouthwashes for frequent use for more than 60 years.

Many kids have sensitive skin, and SafeHands is perfect for them. This alcohol-free hand sanitizer is tough on germs and soft on skin. The rich, exclusive formula of every safeHands bottle moisturizes and preserves the natural oils in skin so your hands feel great all day long. SafeHands is non-toxic and non flammable.

As I'm sure most parents know telling all this to a kid will just get you a strange look.  I can explain all the benefits until I'm blue in the face and it will most likely go into one ear and out the other.   That was until I mentioned it smelled like Bubble-gum :)  At that both my kids looked at me as if I were about to give them each a gold nugget.  And they both suddenly started asking me what was in the bottle?  As if suddenly it held all life's answers. lol

And I wasn't fibbing SafeHands was pretty smart when they made the sanitizer scented.  The quickest way to get my little guys to use hygiene product is to tell them they smell like something they love.  And with scents like Bubble-gum, cool blue, cucumber mint and Tooty fruity I'm sure you know my boys instantly feel in love.

Now with their undivided attention I explained that I'm going to place a bottle in each of their bags this year.  That they can use it whenever they need to.  And if someone is sick next to them on the bus they DEF. need to use it.

The smaller bottles are perfect for their book-bags.  We go to a lot of baseball games and I swear some-days I think my kiddos hold their bathroom until we reach a nasty porter-potty.  So it was nice to have them handy for then too.

I was able to review 2 sized bottles as you see in the photo.  They come in size 1.75,7 and 18 OZ.
They also come in the 3 scents I mentioned for kids and they also have clean linen and fragrance free.

Parents we already have enough worries during the school year!  We worry about grades, friends, if they are safe, bullying and so much more!  Lets take away some of the stress and keep little ones safe from germs this school year with SafeHands!

TwinXL

This post is part of my Back-To-School Guide to learn more please click the photo below:

When my sister started school a few years ago she had a really hard time finding sheets for her Dorm bed.  The ones she had were to small and the next size up where way to big.
In the end she ended up sticking with the bigger set, but I remember her always complaining about the sheet getting dirt on them from the floor or her roommate stepping on the extra.

When I was contacted by TwinXL I had to smile.  If only I would have discovered them a year sooner I could have relived my sister of some stress!
Their sheets are made to fit these longer "twin" beds that are normally found in dorm rooms.
Not only do they sell the sheets, but they also sell pillows, comforters, bed skirts, pads, blankets, mattress, towels and more!

These larger sized bedding can at times be hard to find.  TwinXl wants to take the hassle out of shopping and make it easy to purchase.  They offer a lot of choices so everyone is sure to find a product they love.

I was able to review the Crimson Red Comforter by Ivy Union.

Crimson Red Twin XL Comforter Set By Ivy Union is made with a plush microfiber shell woven from polyester fibers with a brushed finish that's soft and won't pill or shrink.
I love that it wont pill I hate having little threads sticking up all over the place.
Baffle box design helps even temperature control and prevent fill shift.
Meaning that there won't be a huge ball of stuffing at one end of the blanket.
Specially dyed for long lasting color that wont fade, and durable double sewn edging will help provide you years of enjoyment. Available in the Ivy Union trademark Twin XL size. Machine wash and dry.

From the photo you can see its a lovely red.  The blanket is nice and thick making it perfect to keep warm.  It is make with microfiber so its nice for temperature control.
Its long enough to cover a dorm sized bed and its really durable!  The comforter was made to last and the material is high quality.  I like that it was affordable too.  College kids have so many other expensiveness its nice that they can afford this top quality comforter without breaking their budget.
I was really impressed with how quickly my item shipped.  So if you are worried it wont arrive in time for school I can let you know mine came FAST!

I grew up seeing Ricci in kids movies.  I remember loving her in Now and Then and Casper.  I was excited to see her play a complete different role then I'm use to seeing her in.  And I have to say she done an amazing job!  Around the Block is one of those feel good movies, where you find yourself hoping everyone gets a happy ending.  It filled with drama that keeps you on the edge of your seat.  I was really able to connect with the characters and their story.
I like how they young boy is trying so hard to be different then his family and give himself a real future.  Sometimes its tough to break a bad cycle though and we get to see Aborigine Liam go through this struggle.

The Magic School Bus Take a Dive review

If you read my other posts from today you will know we had a movie night on Saturday.  After a long week of vacation time and so much to do my hubby and I were exhausted.  So we spent Saturday night watching movies and relaxing with the kids.
We saved what I think was the best for last.  I LOVED The Magic School bus growing up and I couldn't wait to introduce it to my kids.  The fact a book came with this review was a huge added bonus.

My review:
I remember as a kid not only did I like the adventures, but also the learning.  This wasn't like sitting in a classroom and getting fact after fact this was fun learning!  My all time favorite episode was when the shrunk the bus and explored the insides of a human body!
I knew my kids would love the show and as a long time fan I also knew they would learn.
The show was just as sweet and fun as a remember it to be.
I got to see all my old favorite character and watch them explore and learn.
If you have kids I would highly suggest this dvd.  Not only as a mom who watched it with her kids, but as a grown up who can still remember stuff she learned from the show!

As they work as a team to discover hidden treasures, decipher cryptic knowledge, and uncover a secret society, they learn they have more in common than they thought.

My review:
I have played Clue so many times!  I always made sure to be Scarlet and would make my way around the board trying to play the classic game of who done it, with what and where.  I remember quite a few times catching my brother peaking at my cards, but it was always fun.  When I discovered they made a movie about the game I knew I had to see it!  The fact it was kid friendly made it even better!  I like that my kiddos enjoyed the mystery side of the movie and they were intrigued.  It was interesting enough to even hold my hubby and my attention.   I really enjoyed the way the worked the aspects of the game into the movie!

Back-To-School gives chaos a whole new meaning.  After a summer a relaxation and minimum routine its a bit of a shock to suddenly be on an early sleep schedule, early wake up routine, all the sports that start back up and now the sudden onslaught of homework.  It goes without saying that it hard to keep it all in order and to get it done on time.
As we all know Homework is super important.  It helps to build a foundation for success and needs to be done!
I have discovered that having a planner is a huge help.  Not only do you have a written record of everything, but you can also keep it in order.  Making sure you never forget to do anything and that you also do it on time.

Scotch Duct Tape review

My son loves arts and crafts.  It was no surprise to me when he claimed art was his favorite part of school.  Whenever he brought home a project he would put a lot of time and effort into it.  I remember last year we had to do a "timeline" of his life.  He spent an hour just going through photos and then he made sure to line them up perfectly.  Afterwards we got out glue, glitter, scotch duct tape, crayons and so much more.
He wanted his to be one of kind and by the end of the night it was.
One of the main thing he used was the Scotch Duct Tape.  I'm not sure if you know this, but they have some really awesome patterned Duct Tape!  Not only do they have patterns, but they also have characters, colors and holiday tapes.
And when I say awesome I mean it!
Designs such as Batman, Polka dots, snow flakes, cupcakes and so much more.

Not only is this tape perfect for school products and art &crafts it is also perfect for school supplies, home projects, making one of kind labels and much more.  I know I just got a few raised eyebrows, so let me explain a bit better.
Binders can be BLAH they are one color and boring.  I'm sure they have cute ones with designs and everything else, but they cost more.  So my suggestion is find a cool Scotch Duct Tape and make your own design.  Not only will your kid have a one of kind binder, but they will have a blast making it themselves.

Last year my son had a school folder and half way through the year it tore.  I hated putting on boring regular tape.  Scotch Duct Tape can make an every day tear go from boring to WOW!

Now my son didn't let me do much with the Tape so far.  He claims he wants to save it for a school project.  But he did inform me I could have the girly looking one :)

I know I talked about a lot of "school" related uses, but lets be honest you could use this tape on almost ANYTHING!
And I did just that with the one roll I was permitted to have :)
This is what I created!

Yucky fold up table before....

After

Pretty cool right??
I do a lot with my laptop on this table and each time my eye twitches when I see the pen and crayon marks.  I know I could have just bought a new one, but I like this one!  It sits perfect by my bed and couch.  I have it worn it so I can easily open and close it with my foot.  All it really needed  was an upgrade.
Thanks to Scotch Duct Tape I gave an old favorite a new look!!
It is only 1 of the many things you can do with this fun patterned duct tape!

STEWIE BOOMSTEIN STARTS SCHOOL review and giveaway

Brandon Jr loves to read.  I kinda figured both my kiddos would enjoy this because I'm a huge reader!  My personal library has over 500 books...  This isn't counting the kids books.  My little guys play preschool at home.  Brandon is trying to help Quinn get ready for his first year of preschool.  I like that my little guys are spending time together.  I also like that its a review for Brandon he thinks he is only teaching Quinn, but its my sneaky way of getting him to remember all the stuff he learned!

Recently I was contacted to review the book Stewie Boomstein starts school.  I knew it would be a huge hit with my boys.  What I didn't know is the book is perfect for any little ones that may be a bit scared to start a new year.

The Write Stuff review

Disclaimer:  I was given products in this post for the purpose of review.  I was not paid in anyway to write this review.  All opinions are my own.

This post is part of my Back-To-School Guide.  To learn more please click the photo below.
Last year Brandon Jr started his first year of all day school.  I was mailed a huge packet of Kindergarten registration forms, an invite to see the school and even a paper telling me a list of items my little guy would need.  I was scared, but I felt prepared.

Fast forward one year to first grade and nothing!  No packet, not list of needed items, I don't even know the 1st grade teacher's names!  In a sense I feel as if I was thrown to the wolves and left to find my own way.
Well maybe its not that bad, but still I feel at a complete lost on what my little guy needs for this year of school.  I don't want to buy stuff he isn't going to need its a waste of my money and I also don't want to send him to school without the essentials!
After some thought I decided that somewhere out there, there just has to be a site that has this all figured out.  So to google I went on a mission.
That is how I found the Write Stuff!

Their company has been around since 1989 providing schools with essential name brand items.  The stuff on their site is teacher requested.  So you know you will have exactly what you need.  Or should I say you know your child will have the "Write Stuff" :)

I want to talk a bit more about the program and why parents everywhere are going to fall in love.
*First off its going to save us time.  No more running to the store and going from shop to shop hoping we got everything.
*It saves us money.  The Write Stuff delivers your supplies right to your door.  No gas money, no baby sitter and no getting items you don't need.

* It takes away a bit of Back-To-School stress.
Since the teachers are the ones creating the lists you know it will have everything.
*The kit is filled with high quality items.  Write Stuff fills your kit with name brand items such as Elmer, Crayola and sharpie.
You can still customize your kit on the site.  So if you feel there is something else you want to add you can.
Kits can be shipped to your home or your school.

There is a few ways you can use the site.  The first way is enter your school or city and state.  This way you can see if you school submitted a list and you can order a already put together kit.  And don't forget as I already said this kit is still customize-able you can change it however you want.
Now I didn't look up my school.  I did a sample school.  To show you how easy it is to use....  Without giving away to much personal information about myself.
Step one look up your school:

After you search for your school you will be taking to their page, where you can pick your child's grade.

After the grade is chosen you will be taking to the kit specifically personalized for that school and grade.  As you can see in the photo below there are plus and minus so I can change w/e I want in the kit.

There is a chance your school may not be part of the Write Stuff program don't worry if that is the case you can still shop yourself and build your own kit.

Time to show off my awesome kit!  As you can see below it included:

3 folders, 2 notebook, loose paper, tissues, note-cards, markers, crayons, glue (Sticks and paste), pencils, pencil box, highlighter, dry erase marker, scissors, pens, an eraser and a ruler.
I know you can see from the photo that they were name-brand products that we all know and love!
Everything my little one could possible need to make this school year a success.
They really do think of everything!  I'm one of those moms that don't get tissues until I need them.  I'm sure we all know how tough it is to go to the store with a sick little one.  I love that Write Stuff included a box!  They truly have it all covered :)
Write Stuff saves us time, money and stress.  They are a wonderful company that wants to make things easier for both parents and teachers.  Their site is easy to use, their product are top quality and your little one is sure to have all the essentials when shopping at Write Stuff!
