Quinn is at that wonderful age where bath time is no longer a battle!  NO longer does he scream and hold onto the door jam for dear life.  Now when I say bath time it is all giggles and he runs back to play with his favorite bath toys.  We have boats, squirters, sea creatures and even some strange watermelon sponge (dont ask lol)
The one think we are lacking is blocks!!  When I discovered BathBlocks I just knew they would be perfect for him.  And here is why:
Sometimes the most educational toys are the simplest toys,
Why because the force you to use  your imagination.
Toys with lots of open-ended possibilities encourage young minds to think, to create and to explore.
BathBlocks bring classic block play into a fun, new, fascinating watery environment.
The bathtub is the perfect place to create waterslides, ball runs, floating towns and more.
The “sticky” viscosity of water creates a helpful cling between blocks, and the movement, buoyancy and flow of water add an engaging twist to classic block play.
( Special Note: Dipping BathBlocks in soap or shampoo suds increases their stick to tub walls and other blocks dramatically!) BathBlocks are made from bacteria and mildew resistant EVA and contain no PVC or phthalates..

So these are the reason I love them.  When I asked Quinn why does he love them he replies.  They float and I can build cool stuff!  Oh and they stick to the wall.
Hey now he only just turned 5 I am surprised he paid attention to me long enough to give that answer!
He has so much fun building towers and he uses that creepy watermelon sponge to knock them over!
Bath time doesn't need to be a battle.  With the right attitude and tools it can be a fun time for kids!

When I was little every video of me ended with me asking my mom "Can we watch it now?"  This was back in the day of VHS video cameras that weighed 15 pounds and took a small army to set up.

Thanks to technology video records are no longer that big and catching those little moments are easier than ever.
I always wonder though, what would my kids record if they could?
What moments would they choose to capture?
Thanks to Vtech's all new Kidizoom Action Cam I now know!
The Action Cam is a great first video and photo camera for kids and is durable enough to handle drops and tumbles. It can go anywhere kids go, and do anything kids do.

It has two included mounts so they can attach it to their bike, skateboard and more, making it perfect for interactive play and capturing life’s adventures. It also comes with a waterproof case so they can take videos and pictures up to 6' underwater – perfect for budding snorkelers and splashing fun. The Action Cam features a 1.4" color LCD screen and can take stop-motion videos and time-lapse photos in addition to regular videos and photos. Children can also explore their creativity with fun effects, frames and photo filters. It’s easy to upload their photos and videos to a computer using the included micro USB cable so parents can choose to share them with family and friends. For even more fun, they can also play three exciting games.

Anyone else as impressed as I am?  A kid camera that can do all that??  Heck it can do almost everything my camera can do.
My oldest is 8 and was able to figure it out pretty quickly.  He likes to attach it to his bike and scooters.   The first few times I had to  help him with the mounting, now he can do it all by himself!
So far we have a lot of videos of him wiping out, but he is always so proud to show them to us.
I can even share them with family and friends online thanks to the UBS cord.
And if you run out of space you can add an SD card

Oh and even after all his wipe outs the device still looks brand new!!
I can see this being a huge hit under any Christmas Tree this holiday season!
And if you little girl isn't thrilled about the yellow color they also have it in pink!

A few years ago my boys use to get excited over underwear with characters on them!  I remember going to the kids section and they would each pick out their favorite cartoons to wear on their little bums.
Brandon is now 8 and insist cool kids just wear plain undies!  What??  No more cartoon undies?  No worries right?  I still had Quinn to put in cute little underwear.
NOPE, according to Quinn Brandon is cool so if he wants to be cool he has to be just like him.
So the character underwear are now gone and we started wearing plain undies.
My little guys picked out some Puma undies a few weeks ago and bewildered I pointed out the Puma and asked them doesn't that count of a cartoon.
WIth huge eye rolls they told me NO some designs are cool.
Gah I have so much to learn.
The latest Underwear to make their cool is Underwear Concept.
They are a new generation super smooth soft mateirals. 100% organic materials.  That guarantees comfort and anti-allergic for infants and children.

Plus besides the cool little bee they are just a solid color.  This so passed the cool test according to my boys :)

They make both boys and girls underwear.  They also offer adult sizes as well.

My boys and I like to do crafts together.  On days when they don't have school it is common to see us sitting about working on some sort of project.
Our walls are covered with their art work, our shelves filled with their projects and there isn't any spare room on our fridge thanks to all of their master pieces!
When I heard of Squirrel King I knew it would be perfect for us.

The fun, unique and ingenious Squirrel King kits are a swirl of intellect, engineering and creativity delivered with a hands-on approach that inspires a thirst for knowledge.

Designed for ages 8 and up, the Build with Stickers kits combine two things kids love — stickers and building. Each colorful kit includes novel stickering techniques — no glue involved — and all the materials for children to build, create and explore, making awesome toys in the process
Perfect for a rainy day!
They have several kits, all are cute and easy for little hands to build.  I love that there is no glue!  That always makes such a mess.  Plus that are affordable.  For a low price you can enjoy making a project with your little one and then watch them pay with their new toy afters :)

A few years ago my life was changed and I had no clue it was even happening.   I was inside a Gamestop when Brandon brought over a video game to me.  After reading it I thought hmmm well I guess since it promotes creativity it is fine.
We purchased it for XBox 360
We now own that same game on almost every game system in the house!
Minecraft has hit the Miller household and left no survivors!   We all love playing, even little Quinn who isn't very good at it :)
And thanks to the all new Minecraft Story Mode we have an all new way to play

A new adventure game set in the world of Minecraft! Minecraft: Story Mode is like a playable television show based on your favorite game, where YOU are the star, and your choices and actions decide how the story is told. You are Jesse, and you and your friends are thrown into an awe-inspiring adventure to save the world. While visiting EnderCon, your gang stumbles on something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and your only hope is to track down the "Order of the Stone", a fabled group of adventurers who slew the legendary Ender Dragon. But where are they? In a race against time, you will travel across the over-world, through the Nether, to The End, and beyond.

It is so much fun!  So obviously I haven't completed the game and the other people in my house keep making me share >:O.
But it is so cool to see my character come to life and see how my game choices change the story.  This isn't Minecraft the way you are use to playing!  Keep that in mind, the is a brand new 100% different way to play.
You can change how your character looks to make it look more like you.  If you are getting for a younger kiddo stay with them as they play there is a lot of reading.  My 8 year old is fine, but 5 year old needs help
The disk is only episode one you need to download the other 4 in order to play.

My boys have quite a few toys for the tub.
Markers, squirters, boats, sea creatures and so much more.  And of course we have the iconic Rubba Duck!
I think that it is safe to say no matter what age you are at some point in time there was a Rubba Duck in the tub with you.
And if not.... WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?
JK (But no really?)
As a kid I had this plain yellow one and that was pretty much the extent of Rubba Ducks.
But oh have times have changed now you can choose between 200 different styles!  Not only that, but you can now personalize them.
There is sport ducks, animal themed ducks, medieval ducks, holiday ducks, working ducks, monster ducks, family ducks and so much more!!  The possibilities are endless and to be honest a little overwhelming!  But in a good way :)

"Master Quinn this is Brandon at mission control.  Do I have permission to launch?"
"Mission control this is master Quinn, yes you are all cleared to Launch!"
5, 4, 3, 2 1!!!!
Yes this was so my boys playing with their all new Hatch n Heroes.

Before my review I never heard of them before, but I am so excited to have found them
In a nut shell this is what they are.
Toys that start off in the shape of eggs and through unfolding, twisting and a tiny bit of pulling they turn into a fun toy!
Yes I am sure you know my boys thought this was magic and couldn't wait to start unfolding....  Well according to them to unlaunch their little heroes.
The best part is they are all Disney and Pixar characters!  I bet my boys could name every Disney character ever...  Well most of them :)

These little eggs are so much fun.  They are fun to unfold and fun to play with afterwards!

I am a bag and shoe kind of girl.  Drop me off at the mall long enough and I will buy enough shoes and bags to fill the entire house.
I really believe a nice pair of shoes and a cute bag makes all the difference.
Not only that, but I think it is fun to be able to change up your look and have a different bag for each outfit.
Recently I was able to review the Carol Color Block Satchel by 88

So when getting a new bag I look for several things.
1)Size - I am a mom, my handbag has more than just a tube of lipstick and money. I need to carry around all my kiddos stuff, a mini calendar, coupons, wet wipes, pens, sunscreen and so much more. I need the room and this purse has plenty of it. It is both deep and can expand to fit quite a bit of stuff inside. It also has separate  a zipper pouch inside. I like to keep tickets, my drivers license ect in here so I can easily access it.
Zipper - I need a bag that zippers up so I don't need to worry about stuff falling out. My kids are always bumping into my bag the last thing I want is for my unmentionables to go spilling out in the middle of the mall.  I like that this zipper goes both ways and meets in the middle up top.  I can really open this bag wide and see everything inside!  I feel like I am always searching for something this makes it so much easier to find.
Oh and there is a pouch on the front as well!! I have been sticking stuff for my kids in there that way they dont need to go into the main part of my bag.
Straps - My next big thing is I need to be able to get my arms through the strap. I have two boys so my hands need to be free. This bag easily slips onto my shoulder with the attachable strap that I can place on the silver loops on either side.   Or if it is just my hubby and I, I can wear it as a handbag.  Being able to use it both ways is a huge plus for me.  It is like getting 2 bags in 1!

Durable - And finally I need something that is durable. I need something that can hold up against all my stuff. This satchel does that perfectly!  It can hold everything!!

Here is some fun facts about the company:
88 is a vegan brand and no animal products are used.
88 is the number of constellations in the sky.
88 is considered the luckiest number in Chinese culture as it sounds like word for wealth.
88 is the ham radio sign off that means love and kisses…
88 represents the cycle of creation and recreation.
88 is a collection of bags designed by an expert creative team that works on design for brands world wide. This collection is their favorite. It is the edited expression of the right bags for the season. Bags that are on trend, that look great and which work. #NAM15 #perfectparentNovember is National Adoption Month

I will be compensated for this post.
Did you know that November is National Adoption Month?

I had no clue myself and it kind of makes me sad I am only just learning about this.  You may not know this, but my younger brother (the oldest of the 2) was adopted.  Now his adoption was a bit different, because he was 18 when it happened.  For those of you going huh?  He is mentally handicapped, at 18 his birth mom realized she would no longer get a monthly check for him and kicked him to the curb.  He can never live on his own and will always need a legal guardian (someone to care for him).
He doesn't see my dad as a guardian though, he sees him as dad.  It was my dad who stood over his hospital bed when he got sick with tears in his eye, it was our dad who taught him how to change the oil in a car, our dad who taught him how to mow grass, it was our dad he took him to his first amusement park, our dad he showed him how to fish, to fly a kite and also to flirt with girls (They are both pretty bad at this one lol)
He was my brother long before this moment, but our dad made it official!  My brother's is funny, sweet and is always there for me.  We may not share the same blood, but he is my brother in every sense of the word.
So adoption is a near and dear subject to heart.  Without it I wouldn't have gotten the brother God forgot to give me.
There are 415,000 children in the U.S. foster care system and 108,000 are waiting to be adopted. AdoptUSKids’ maintains a national photo listing service for children waiting to be adopted. Since the project launched in 2002, more than 25,000 children who were once photo listed on adoptuskids.org have been adopted and nearly 38,000 families have registered to adopt through the website.  Nevertheless, older youth are disproportionately represented – approximately 41 percent of children and youth photo listed on adoptuskids.org are between 15 and 18 years old, but only 17 percent of those adopted have been in this age group

Older youth and teens have lower adoption rates than younger children, and they often wait longer to be adopted. But no matter their age, all kids need a supportive, loving home and the teenage years are a critical period for growth. The new TV PSAs, which were created for the campaign probono, portray a dad giving advice to his teenage daughter after her first breakup, and a mom giving her son a haircut at home. The humorous, lighthearted scenarios aim to overcome fears adoptive parents may have regarding their own imperfections. The PSAs end with the tagline, “You don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent,” reassuring prospective parents that even if they are not ‘perfect’, they have the ability to provide the stability and security that older youth in foster care need and deserve.
The PSAs direct audiences to visit adoptuskids.org or to call 1-888-200-4005 (English) or 1-877-236-7831 (Spanish) to receive the latest information about the foster care system and the adoption process.
If you want to learn more please checkout any of the links below:

Why Older Youth?

  • All of us – and that includes older youth in foster care who are waiting to be adopted – need and want families throughout life to support us and to share important life events. Learning to drive a car, applying for higher education, and birthday and holiday celebrations are just a few examples of the times in life we need and want to share with family.
  • Older youth are overrepresented in the foster care population, as they generally wait longer to be adopted, and have lower overalladoption rates.
  • On adoptuskids.org, roughly 41 percent of the children and youth actively photolisted are between the ages of 15 and 18 years old. About 58 percent are male. (Most recent stats as of May 31, 2015)
  • Families who adopt older youth, are providing them with the support and stability of a family during a critical period of normal adolescent concerns and additional self-identity issues.
Some of the Misperceptions about Adoption from Foster Care:
  • Adoption is expensive.  Unlike the private adoption of an infant or adopting internationally, there are virtually no costs associated with adoption from the US child welfare system. In addition, the vast majority of youth adopted from foster care are also eligible for monthly adoption assistance up to the level of the foster care rate.
  • You have to be married. You do not have to be married to adopt in most states. Many children have been very successfullyadopted by single parents. Single-parent families accounted for 29 percent of all adoptions from foster care in 2014 (AFCARS).
  • You have to have a college degree. Having a high school diploma or college education is not required. What is important is that you are stable, flexible, and compassionate, and that you have a good sense of humor. Most importantly, you must have the support and commitment to raise a child and to be there for him throughout his life.
  • You have to own a home and each child has to have their own room. You can rent your home or live in an apartment or a mobile home so long as your living situation is a stable one.
  • You have to be of child-bearing age to adopt. Experienced parents and empty-nesters are encouraged to adopt. In most instances, you’re eligible to adopt regardless of age, income, marital status or sexual orientation.
  • You can only adopt a child who is the same race and ethnicity as you. Federal law prohibits the delay or denial of an adoptive placement based on the race or ethnicity of a child in U.S. foster care and the prospective parent or parents who are seeking toadopt them. The only exception to this law is the adoption of Native American children where special considerations apply.
  • You can’t adopt if you’re in the military. Military families stationed overseas and within the U.S. are eligible to adopt children from the U.S. foster care system.

I See Me! is making the holidays personal

I was given products in this post to test and give my honest feedback.  All opinions are my own.
Welcome to the 2015 Simply Me Holiday Gift guide!  The holidays should be fun.  At times finding the perfect gift, great deals, decorating and recipes can be overwhelming.  The Simply Me Blog wants to put the fun back into the Holidays so over the next several weeks I will be posting great gifts for everyone, decorating tips, recipes and everything in-between!

We all have our traditions.  As a kid I never realized all the special little things my mum did to make the holidays special.
As the mom of two little boys I realize now just how important these little things are.  It makes me smile each year when my boys ask what holiday CD we are going to listen to as we decorate.  Or when Brandon Jr gets the box of hot chocolate out of the cabinet for our first holiday movie marthone.  When our town has its annual Christmas tree lighting, both boys know to get their ugly holiday sweaters!
One of my favorites though is each year I let them get a new holiday ornament!
First off it is fun to see which one they will pick.  The other great thing about this is as we are decorating our tree we go through the old ornaments and remember what year we got them and why my boys picked that particular ornament.
It is fun and has become one of my favorite traditions.
This year my boys got a huge surprise when I See Me! sent them each an ornament with their photo on it and their name.  An ornament that was made just for them.
You can also add the year if you want.
They are so cute and brought lots of holiday joy to my boys, the front has their photo and the back has a cute holiday themed photo!
There is a few options to choose from my boys picked The Christmas Tree personalized ornament

So far I was pretty impressed with what I See Me! had for the holidays but they weren't done yet.  They also have personalize placemats.
These could be cute for any number of things!  Such as a craft mat for doing holiday crafts or a food placemat to eat your holiday feast.
My boys and I though are going to start a brand new tradition with ours.  Every year we make 3-4 different kinds of cookies.  Then the boys each get a glass of milk and a plate to leave out their own plates for Santa.  This year we are so going to put their cups and plates on the placemats.
Brandon Jr said this way Santa will know which one of them made each plate up.
These placemats are personalized with your child's name and each feature a super cute holiday scene.

The things I reviewed are only 2 of many offered by I See Me!  the designs I reviewed on each are again only an example of what they offer!
I See Me! goes above and beyond to make little ones feel special their products are top quality and built to last.

My pups mean the world to me.  It goes without saying that come Christmas time they have several gifts under the tree.  Emma my beagle couldn't care less unless it is some sort of meaty treat.  Rufus on the other hand gets so excited!  He loves to scratch the paper off, he loves when we all ooo and aaaa at him.  He doesn't even care what it is he just love being part of the family and the center of attention.
So it is with him in mind that I hit up the local pet shops and the online pet shops.  I always get him something yummy, something fun and something he can wear.
We take lots of walks together and he gets so excited when I go to his little clothing pin.
And I can't fib my little fur ball looks pretty freaking cute in his yoda outfit.
When I found Capturing Couture I just knew I had to get him one of their pet vest harnesses.

Not only do they have a clip on for his leash they are also super fashionable!!
We reviewed in the pumpkin color, this is just one of many!
(Don't mind Quinn he was pretending me a puppy in this photo lol)

The designs are really cute and they are reversible.
They have a clip at the chest and belly area.  Which is great I hate when Rufus pulls and he gags from choking himself :(
This prevents that.

Also they have adjustable making them a perfect fit each time for your pup.

I so spent my weekend watching holiday movies with my family!  My hubby is making me wait until Friday to decorate, but that hasn't stopped me from starting this Christmas season in our house.

We just watch Ice Sculpture Christmas!  It was super cute and really got us into the holiday cheer
